  • Elvis O’Dean “Dean” Shaw, age 87 of Sims, AR, left this world for his heavenly home, on February 24, 2019. Dean was born on March 21, 1931 to Audie and Bertha Shaw, at Mauldin, Arkansas. Dean is preceded in death by Emma Dunaway Shaw after 64 years of marriage, his parents, and brothers, Odell Shaw and Eulas Shaw, along with his sister Jerline Qualls. Dean was a former J.P. and a former board member of Heritage House Bd., Farm Bureau Bd., Montgomery County Cattlemen’s Associate. He was also a part of the Montgomery County Soil Conservation, Montgomery County Health Education Advisory Bd., also, 1991 Montgomery County Farm Family of the Year.

    Survivors include: daughters, Debra Crowley Walker of Sims, Donna Reyer (Dennis) of Sims, son, Timothy Craig Shaw of Mt. Ida, brother, Irvin Shaw (Alta), grandchildren, Eric Crowley (Mandy) of Springdale, Emily Shipman (Richard) of Sims, Sabrina Shaw of Mt. Ida, and Matthew Shaw of Mt. Ida, great grandchildren, Brianna and Drew Crowley, Jesslynn Williams, Conner and Kaelynn Shipman, along with many nieces, nephews, a special friend Juanita Ferguson, friends, and his church family.

    Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 5-7 p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR. Service will be held Wednesday, February 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Lone Valley Church of God in Sims, AR with Doctor Earl Reyer officiating. Interment will follow Pencil Bluff Cemetery. Pallbearers: Matthew Shaw, Eric Crowley, Dakota Barrett, Darrin Dunaway, David Welchman, and Richard Shipman. Honorary Pallbearers: Mount Ida Senior Center.     So sorry for your loss and my condolences . Mr Shaw had such kind words to say to me when my dad (Talmadge Snow) passed away in 2011 which I appreciated. Dad had a fine regard for Dean as well . God bless you all at this time.
